Disappointing Update from Microsoft for Minecraft Fans

Disappointing Update from Microsoft for Minecraft Fans

The prospect of an Xbox Series X/S version of Minecraft had been the subject of exciting rumors for a long. Microsoft, however, recently shattered fans’ dreams by breaking some bad news. Mojang has worked hard with Microsoft to make Minecraft available on various systems, including mobile devices, the PlayStation 3, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft’s operating system. Surprisingly, there isn’t a particular version of Minecraft for the Xbox Series X/S yet, and it doesn’t look like that will change very soon.

Back in August, there were rumors that Minecraft would receive an Xbox Series X/S upgrade. There was substantial evidence to back up these assertions. Through the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board), ratings for an Xbox Series X/S edition of Minecraft were discovered in Germany and the US.

Despite the growing interest and expectations, a formal announcement from Mojang or Microsoft has yet to occur. Fans have persisted in asking Microsoft for updates despite the intense enthusiasm surrounding the possibility of an improved console version of Minecraft on Xbox Series X/S.

In a recent statement to Eurogamer, Microsoft has dashed Minecraft enthusiasts’ expectations for an Xbox Series X/S version. This is disappointing news because Microsoft clarified that such a version would not be released in the “near future.”

It turns out that the ratings previously identified for the Xbox Series X/S edition of Minecraft in the US and Germany were “not indicative” of a new version; instead, they were the outcome of ordinary rating evaluations and upgrades carried out by various regional boards.

It is unclear from the statement whether an Xbox Series X/S version of Minecraft is even in the works. Although speculation is still prevalent, Microsoft is keen to control fan expectations by withholding information.

Microsoft would surely make history if they released a Minecraft Xbox Series X/S version with improved performance and graphics. The unmatched popularity of Minecraft makes it one of Microsoft’s flagship series. It will surely be a big deal in the gaming world when and if it ever makes its way to Xbox Series X/S.

This release’s date is still pending. Mojang, the company behind Minecraft, certainly wants to make sure that any prospective new version of the game is polished to a fault, even if releasing it sooner will probably increase Xbox Series X/S sales and Game Pass subscriptions.

It’s exciting to think about a reveal at Minecon Live in 2023, but it might be more reasonable to expect a release in 2024 or later. The PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and mobile platforms all support Minecraft.
