Intel has officially begun distributing the much-anticipated Core i9-14900K and Core i9-14900KF CPUs from the ‘Raptor Lake Refresh series, making them available to reviewers and retail channels. The internet community received a first look at the package due to photographs posted by notable hardware enthusiasts @9550pro, who confirmed the CPUs’ deployment to their intended receivers.
In keeping with Intel’s tradition of packaging design continuity in its 13th Generation flagship processors, such as the Core i9-13900K/KS, Core i9-12900K/KS, Core i9-11900K, and Core i9-9900K. The Core i9-14900K and Core i9-14900KF are housed in sleek dark blue packaging with an aesthetic reminiscent of a silicon wafer. Labels read ‘i9 14th Gen’ and ‘Intel Core Unlocked.’ A transparent window within the package allows a glance at the CPU, displaying the distribution of the SRN48 S-Spec variant.
While the available photographs do not detail the Core i9-14900K/KF’s characteristics, existing information indicates that these processors have eight high-performance Raptor Lake cores capable of reaching an astounding peak single-core turbo boost frequency of 6.0 GHz. Furthermore, they are outfitted with 16 Gracemont cores that operate at rates exceeding 4.30 GHz.”
Regarding compatibility, Intel’s 14th Generation ‘Raptor Lake Refresh’ processors offer direct compatibility with existing LGA1700 motherboards. However, these motherboards must be built on Intel 600 or Intel 700-series chipsets to enable flawless integration, have a suitable BIOS update, and feature a voltage regulating module specifically developed to support these CPUs.
Intel has scheduled October 17, 2023, as the official debut date for its high-performance CPUs, which include the Core i9-14900K/KF, Core i7-14700K/KF, and Core i5-14600K/KF, all of which come with unlocked multipliers.”
